The “Youth Entrepreneurship Journey” programme (programme), jointly organised by MegaBox and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG), has created new opportunities for local youth wishing to start their own businesses. Launched in response to the Hong Kong Housing Authority’s “Well Being · Start-Up 2.0” initiative, the programme aims to support young people aged 18-35 in realising their entrepreneurial dreams through practical business training courses, guidance from professional trainers and a real-life platform for testing their business plans.
The programme drew an enthusiastic response when introduced in May 2025, with over 25 start-up teams participating. Their projects spanned diverse areas, ranging from local culture to social innovation, green living, and lifestyle design.
All teams attended a series of practical courses on business thinking, marketing, operational management, public speaking and other essential skills to enhance their business acumen. After completing the courses, they submitted their business plans and video presentations and underwent interviews.
For three months, from 2 August until October, the seven winning teams of series 1 will gain hands-on experience by operating mobile start-up booths provided with the compliments of MegaBox on its ninth floor, every Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday. During this trial period, the teams will interact directly with customers, gauge market response, and improve their products and services. Outstanding teams will have the opportunity to operate a pop-up store or retail shop for a trial period of up to 12 months, making their entrepreneurial dreams a reality.
