HKFYG SIC Summer Course – Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation

 

Objectives

This course aims to equip Form 1 to Form 4 students with the 21st Century Skills, with the focus of entrepreneurship and social innovation.  Through this course, youngsters can understand the social problems in Hong Kong and try to draft a business plan to improve the world a better place.

 

Key skills that will be covered in the course:

– Creativity and entrepreneurial mindset

– Problem solving skills

– Communication skills

– Collaboration skills

– Empathy and caring

– Knowledge of practical online tools to expedite the process of social innovation

 

Features of the classes

Information overloaded in this century, traditional education is no longer sufficient to give youngsters to connect the world and surroundings.  We aim to offer student from the basis of theory to practice by learning through different necessary skills and mindset under the flow of exploration, research, execution and review.

– SIC reserves the right to modify the rules and contents of the classes.
# Parents and guests will be invited to join the Closing Ceremony.

 

Basic Information

Classes Duration 5 days + 1 day for Closing Ceremony

From 14 July to 30 July

Eligibility
  • F.4 students in the 2021/2022 academic years
  • Who demonstrate collaborative ability and are motivated
Medium of Instruction Cantonese supplemented with English
Certificate of Completion Upon fulfillment of 80% attendance or more, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.

Fees

Application Fee Free of Charge

  • Eligible applicants will be invited for audition
  • Report of Character analysis will be provided
Classes Fee Standard Fee: HKD7,000

Early Bird: $6,000

School Nominated: $5,000

School Nominations A hard copy of school nomination letter should be submitted to the Secretariat.

 

Subsidy

Subsidies are provided for outstanding applicants in financial need and are only available to Hong Kong residents studying in local secondary schools.

Subsidy applicants MUST provide:

  1. A reference letter written by the principal of his/her current school; and
  2. The application result of School Textbook Assistance Scheme, or a copy of the Certificate of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance.

Successful subsidy applicants will receive a full subsidy (full waiver of the classes fee).

 

Application Procedures

Application Methods
  1. Please complete the online application form.
  2. Eligible applicants will be invited for audition in July.
  3. Selected applicants will receive the Acceptance Letter within two weeks after the audition, and should pay for the class fee before the designated day.

Remarks

Adverse Weather Arrangement

The following arrangements apply when:
1. A Typhoon Signal No.8 or above is issued; or
2. The Hong Kong Observatory announces that a Typhoon Signal No.8 or above will be issued within 2 hours; or
3. A Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued.

Signal/Announcement Issued Cancellation of Classes
07:00-11:59 Morning classes starting before 14:00 will be cancelled.
12:00-15:59 Afternoon classes starting between 14:00 and before 18:00 will be cancelled.

 

The following arrangements apply when the Typhoon Signal No.8, or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is cancelled:

07:00 or before All classes will resume as scheduled.
07:01-12:00 – Morning classes starting before 14:00 will be cancelled;
– Afternoon classes starting between 14:00 and before 18:00 will resume as scheduled.
12:01-16:00 – Afternoon classes starting between 14:00 and before 18:00 will be cancelled.
16:00 or after All afternoon classes starting at or after 14:00 will be cancelled.

 

Refund Policy

The class fee paid is non-refundable and non-transferable unless otherwise specified: In terms of adverse weather arrangement, HKD500 will be refunded if one whole day of programme is cancelled.
